SANDAG has informed the City that construction on Phase 3 of the Inland Rail Trail is expected to begin later this summer through 2026. Over the next few weeks, crews will begin preliminary construction activities, including checking current road conditions, locating underground utilities, and more. Some construction activity will begin as early as this month.
During construction, nearby residents, businesses, and travelers can expect occasional noise (including OSHA-required back-up alarms) as crews complete this work. Crews will take steps to reduce impacts to the community whenever possible.
Once complete, Phase 3 of the Inland Rail Trail will run alongside the SPRINTER tracks between Mar Vista Drive and Civic Center Drive in Vista, creating an important one-mile bike connection for residents and visitors alike.
