Some important info for your consideration:

  1. 1. C4FA has filed another lawsuit against the County of San Diego.

See C4FA notice below for details. Please consider helping with contributions, as the County is using their deep pocket public dollars, to try to prevent residents from fighting for their health, safety, and quality of life.

  1. Get Noisy Program is Operational

We have 12 HOAs, Community Groups and Individuals participating in this noise monitor program. The monitors are in place in areas from Vista to South Carlsbad and Escondido to the Ocean. We hope to have a public dashboard available by early-mid March. Some preliminary results are:

  1. Amount of flights recorded vary among locations with most flights to the south and north (averaging 150 per day).
  2. Noise across all the sites average about 75 decibels per flight for two thirds of daily flights. This noise level is double the noise level of 65 decibels which is considered the “upper limit of normally acceptable noise” by the State of California.(formula is a logarithm resulting in noise calculation)
  3. Quiet Hour Flights(10PM-7AM) have increased 10x since American Airlines started.
  4. Some recent flights and areas of concern: a)a large jet flew directly from Berlin to Palomar Airport; b)  Korean Cargo planes flew in and out of Palomar Airport with a stop in Alaska; c) there are some large jets from Mexico flying into Palomar at 3AM and leaving by 10AM the same morning; d) more and larger corporate jets are using Palomar; e) we now have 5 flight schools operating at Palomar; f) we are receiving small plane pilot reports that the tarmac and taxiways are overcrowded and showing signs of foundation stress; g) the FAA issued the following “Hot Spot”(increased risk)  Notice for Palomar Airport:     Large Jets may obscure visibility of small jets.

And so it goes…keep the faith…keep engaged…

and let your voices be heard!

The Fight for Local Control Isn’t Over – We Need You Now

Hello C4FA Friends,

This fight is far from over – and the stakes for Carlsbad could not be higher.

As you may know, C4FA has filed two separate lawsuits challenging the County’s contracts with American Airlines (AA) and United Airlines (UA). Both contracts were approved by the County without the City of Carlsbad’s consent, despite the Court’s 2021 order affirming that Carlsbad retains LOCAL CONTROL over the USE of Palomar Airport.

The United Airlines case has now been assigned to the same judge who issued the 2021 ruling, Judge Gregory Pollack. The case has been designated as “related” to the American Airlines lawsuit because the legal issues are the same.

Next Hearing:
Friday, August 14, 2026 @ 9:30am
Department C-71, Central Hall of Justice, San Diego
(Remote viewing details will be posted on the C4FA website.)

Let’s be clear:
Even if we win against the County on American Airlines contract, that ruling does not automatically invalidate the United Airlines contract. Each agreement must be challenged on its own. That’s why we are fighting on two fronts.

This is about more than contracts. It’s about local control, accountability, and the future of Palomar Airport. If residents stay silent, it will be interpreted as consent.

Now is the time to stand up. Sign the petition today.
Your name matters. Your voice matters. Numbers matter.

We are a 100% volunteer organization. No salaries. No overhead. Just neighbors committed to protecting our community. But litigation is expensive and the County is counting on us running out of resources.

If you believe local control should mean something, please help us continue this fight.

Every dollar strengthens our ability to hold the County accountable.

This effort depends on community engagement. Please forward this message to friends, neighbors, and anyone who cares about the future of Carlsbad.

We will not stop. But we cannot do this without you.

With gratitude and determination,
Your Friends and Neighbors at C4FA
